Pride Month is a time to honor the vibrant diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community and to recognize the unique perspectives and experiences that each individual brings to the table. At Trintech, we believe that embracing diversity of thought and background enriches our work environment and enhances our ability to innovate and serve our customers. One of our core values is “Open” – a principle that guides us in embracing diversity of thought and background within our company, our customers and partners, and our communities. As we celebrate Pride Month, this value takes on an even deeper significance, reminding us of the importance of inclusivity, humility, and the courage to adapt and grow.
Embracing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Our team is a mosaic of different identities, stories, and talents, and this diversity fuels our creativity and powers our purpose. At a time with many diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts are being shuttered, Trintech is placing more emphasis on our efforts to support, include and celebrate the diversity of our Trintechers. We have active employee resource groups (ERGs) including BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and all People of Color) of Trintech, Different Abilities of Trintech, Women of Trintech, New Employees of Trintech, and Pride of Trintech, for LGBTQIA+ employees and allies. Ultimately, we want to create spaces where employees and allies can embrace their true selves and feel supported.
Creating an inclusive environment is about more than just welcoming diverse individuals; it’s about valuing everyone’s voice and ensuring that everyone feels heard and respected. As Jake Luedecke, one of the leaders of our Pride ERG said, “As soon as I heard about the Pride ERG at Trintech, I knew I wanted to join. I was previously part of the DEI team at my university, and the organization has since been dismantled. I wanted to be an active participant to show that DEI efforts, including our Pride group, are meaningful and important.”
We also strive to offer equitable support and benefits to all employees. What does that look like? We offer an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) that is available to all people residing in an employee’s household, regardless of their relationship to the employee. Our benefits are subject to government regulations but in the U.S. include things like dependent coverage for same-sex partners and parental leave to all new parents, birthing and non-birthing.
What Does Pride Look Like at Trintech?
Centered around our openness to embrace diversity, our Pride ERG discusses key topics for the LGBTQIA+ community and hosts events to give people an opportunity to share their stories. In 2023, we hosted a program where guest speaker Mimi Rogers, daughter of one of our Trintech Pride ERG leaders, shared her social work with LGBTQIA+ youth.
“Mimi has been a wonderful advocate and role model for the LGBTQIA+ community in her work with unhoused youth. She wanted to share her story and encourage others to volunteer or do whatever they could to support the community,” said Nancy Martinez.
This year, we are excited to host our first in-person event for our Pride ERG at our Plano, TX headquarters. We will welcome Will Arriaga, chef at Si Tapas, who will share his experiences as an LGBTQIA+ community member in the restaurant industry. Naturally, we’ve hired Si Tapas to cater the event, which is sure to gather a crowd!
Building Stronger Connections
As Brian French, Director of Learning & Development, said, “Our Trintech DEI program strives to create opportunities for our employees to connect, discover, and grow together. This is seen in every conversation we have in our HR team, and through the work of our Diversity Council, where we promote respect, openness, and inclusivity to create an environment where every Trintecher can feel a sense of belonging. Our Pride ERG plays such an important role in helping to create this positive environment and we honor their contributions as we celebrate Pride Month.”
We believe that by promoting diversity and inclusivity, we can build stronger, more meaningful connections with those we serve. This month, Trintech is proud to stand in solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community, advocating for acceptance, understanding, and equality.
