2024 is proving to be a difficult year for finance teams. Despite a brief spike in 2019, the past decade has seen a steady decline in the number of practicing accountants and auditors in the U.S. by about 10%, with roughly 190,000 jobs disappearing from the work force. Meanwhile, in 2022 the total number of test takers who passed the CPA Exam fell to its lowest level since 2007, leaving even fewer new entrants into the field.
